Putting together a Halloween Cheese Board is a fun and easy way to get festive for spooky season! Focus on finding ingredients in classic Halloween colors like orange, black, purple and green and add seasonal favorites like pumpkin seeds and candy corn.
Below I've listed what I included on my Halloween Cheese Board. Feel free to replicate it exactly as is, or customize to your liking!

The cheeses
When shopping for your Halloween Cheese Board, make sure to keep the colors in mind! I grabbed cheeses that were orange, white and purple and had varying tastes and textures.
Cheddar: Sharp or smoked cheddar work great. Just make sure it's orange cheddar!
Wine soaked: A wine soaked cheese is a great way to include something purple on the board! I grabbed this Purple Moon Cheddar- the name and color were perfectly festive!
Red Leicester: I found this one at Trader Joe's and thought the color would be perfect. It's similar to cheddar in flavor, but a bit nuttier and it has a more crumbly texture.
Pub cheese: I don't know why, but pub cheese and pretzels screams fall to me and it doesn't hurt that it's orange!
Goat gouda: I wanted a white cheese on the board to offset all of the orange. I went with a young goat gouda. Choose whatever you like best!
The meats
Make sure to keep tastes and textures in mind when choosing your meats as well- you want a variety!
Spanish chorizo: I included a dry cured Spanish chorizo because the dark red color seemed fitting. It's also really tasty! Make sure it's Spanish chorizo, not Mexican.
Salami: Any salami will do! I used Calabrese salami.
Prosciutto: Prosciutto is one of my favorite meats to include on a cheese and charcuterie board. It's universally loved!
The extras
Here's your chance to get extra festive and to fill in any color gaps you might be missing (I know you need more green and purple!) Grab what you like and what looks Halloween-y!
Pumpkin seeds: These are such a great seasonal choice! I bought these from Trader Joe's, but you can roast some up yourself instead.
Fresh fruit: In keeping with the festive tone, I went with green apples and black grapes. Purple grapes will work great as well!
Dried fruit: I always like to include dried fruit on cheese boards and this Halloween Cheese Board is no different. Luckily my favorite dried fruit, apricots, are orange!
Halloween candy: Including some Halloween candy on the board is a fun detail. I chose candy corn and black licorice because they're classic and also go with the color scheme.
Okra snacks: These crispy okra snacks are one of my favorite Trader Joe's buys. They're so good! I thought they'd be fun on this board because they look like creepy witch's fingers!
Olives: Be sure to get pimento stuffed olives for extra spookiness- they look like eyeballs!
Pretzels: I chose mini pretzels to dip in the pub cheese. Soft pretzel bites are also a great option!
Crackers: While not very spooky, these La Panzanella crackers are a favorite of mine. They make their way onto most of my boards!
The spooky details!
It's not a Halloween Cheese Board without some festive Halloween decorations! I kept mine pretty simple, but feel free to get as crazy as you want.
Pumpkins: Mini pumpkins are cute, festive and inexpensive! You can use real or fake ones.
Cheese cleaver: Okay this mini cleaver is actually just a real cheese knife, but doesn't it look like a Halloween decoration?!
Skeleton hands: Why not include a skeleton hand?! I got mine at Target a few years ago, but here are similar ones!
Tips and Tricks
Choose a dark background. For optimal spookiness, start with a black or dark colored board! Of course, you don't need to buy a new board specifically for this recipe, but if you have one, now's the time to grab it! I actually just used this black pizza stone for the main section, and then added bowls around the edges.
Focus on the colors! Resist the urge to add tons of different ingredients to your board that don't fall within the color scheme. It'll look best if you focus on your Halloween colors.
Use festive containers for the extras. Not everything needs to go on the board. It's perfectly acceptable to have a few bowls surrounding the board, especially if they help contain the snacks. I used some orange ramekins, pumpkin shaped cups, and a pumpkin shaped serving dish.
Don't forget the utensils! A couple of cocktail forks and cheese knives will do the trick.
The best thing about cheese boards is that they can easily be customized to your tastes and scaled up or down depending on the size of your party. I hope you got some spooky inspiration for your next board!
